We all have been paying service charges at restaurants, cafes and lounges. Sometimes we even pay more than 10% but the good news is that it is optional now. Various Restaurants were charging 15-20% in name of service charge which won’t continue now onwards. The Department of Consumer Affairs released a notice with government this Monday and said that restaurants billing “Service charges” would be kept optional. Consumer would decide to pay the service charge or not, depending on the quality of service.
