In midst of Chandni Chowk, the heart of delhi has enormous clustered lanes that might trap you in their own real beauty. You may have or may have not heard about the heritage hotel, The Lakhori Haveli behind the lanes of Delhi-6. Just opposite Jama Masjid, the haveli is slaying in its own wind.
I wanted to visit it a long time back, but never got a chance before. It is 5 minutes walk from Daryaganj.
Address: Haveli Dharampura, 2293, Gali Gulian, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, Delhi 6
Experience: Not so amazing. Read Why
The feeling of visiting a Heritage Haveli has always been amazing. But while finding Gali Gulian on this Sunday morning I was literally baffled to see the lane. Anyhow, I went inside and was amazed to see those big doors and the decor; it was so vintage and beautiful.
We sat at the Lakhori restaurant and saw the menu that was comprised of Chandni Chowk’s Street food varieties. No, I wanted something else, different. I get all this in 40 bucks outside and you are offering the same thing in 400 bucks! No, this is not what I expected. The menu should have something different, maybe then I wouldn’t have minded spending 800 or 1000 bucks too. It had all the same chaats, literally chaats that all purani dilli lovers would binge on fewer than 100 bucks.
But this wasn’t that bad. You can read the chaat review here. @catchnowdaily
Being a Delhi wala or delhi foodie you will definitely feel the way I did. I didn’t want to waste my money on Chaats so I asked them about the Breakfast Menu that had pancakes, eggs and much more. But unfortunately they closed the breakfast by 10am.
We didn’t had more options, so we ordered Palak Patta Chaat and coffee later on because it wasn’t allowed to see around the haveli unless you eat at the restaurant or you are staying with the hotel.
So, we gorged on the chaat and then went around to visit the Haveli. It is beautiful and you can definitely visit and eat the mehangi (expensive) chaat atleast once.
